Miss New Mexico 1948 finally got the crown and sash she never had, 68 years later. She is now 90 years young.
According to the Miss America Organization, Bertha Young was 22 when she won the Miss New Mexico pageant in 1948. But because of the post-World War II depression, she never got her crown.
On Wednesday, the current Miss America, Betty Cantrell of Warner Robins, Georgia, presented Young with a crown and sash.
“Bertha is 90 years old and still beautiful as ever!” Cantrell wrote on Facebook.
