NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police say a teenager is in custody after shooting his grandmother and two young relatives because he didn’t want to get out of bed.

Authorities say the 16-year-old got into an argument with his 67-year-old grandmother when she tried to wake him up for school.

They say at one point, the teen ran to a closet, got a handgun and started firing.

Bullets struck his grandmother, his 12-year-old sister and 6-year-old nephew.

The suspect’s uncle says like most teenagers, he sometimes has a temper.

“Issues with talking back, you know when you’re getting a little bit older, your britches get too big for you. But you have to realize you’re in someone else’s house.

The teen’s relatives were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Officials say the teen also tried to shoot his mother.
