GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Officer Bobby White went viral in January after playing a game of hoops with a group of kids in a Gainesville, Florida neighborhood. Now, months later, he’s still making a big difference.

In January, Officer White was called to the neighborhood after a resident called police, saying the kids were being too loud.

After playing with them, Officer White told them to keep playing, and stay out of trouble. Soon the hashtag #HoopsNotCrime spread across the internet.

Even basketball star Shaquille O’Neal showed up to shoot some hoops with the kids.

Officer White wanted to keep a good thing going, so he asked the mother of one of the kids if he could build a basketball court in her backyard. She agreed, and with donations from the community, they built the court.

Officer White started a Facebook page to keep the community up-to-date on his progress. You can follow his story here.
