SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – A Salt Lake City man is recovering after losing his leg saving a woman from an oncoming car.
Keenan Pearson is a husband and a father for two. He met Megan Hansen after the two of them slid off a highway in early morning on Oct. 6.
As they were on the side of the road, a third car lost control and came barreling towards them. Pearson didn’t hesitate to push Hansen out of the way.
“I was so grateful that it was him rather than someone else that maybe would have been in shock,” Hansen told KSTU.
The impact injured both of Pearson’s legs. One of them had to be amputated.
“He risked his life for me, absolutely. I’m a complete stranger and he put himself first,” Hansen said.
Pearson said while the accident was devastating, he would do it again in a heartbeat if it meant saving someone else’s life.
“If I can pick someone to push out of the way of a car it would definitely be you,” Pearson told KSTU.
The two plan to stay in touch.
“I think we were brought into each other’s lives for a reason and I’m super excited to have a relationship with you guys,” Hansen told Pearson.
