RUSK COUNTY, Wis. – A little boy had a happy Halloween despite losing his dad just days before, thanks to his extended law enforcement family.

Authorities say Deputy Dan Glaze of the Rusk County Sheriff’s office was shot and killed Saturday night as he investigated a suspicious vehicle.

His comrades wanted to make sure Glaze’s 5-year-old son, Levi, still had a happy Halloween despite the tragedy of losing his dad. State Trooper Jodi Kummet arranged for officers to take Levi trick-or-treating. Nearly 40 deputies, police officer, troopers and Department of Natural Resources wardens rallied to support the boy.

Neighbors prepared special treat bags for Levi, who was dressed as the Lego Green Ninja.
