A community in India is fed-up with the number of potholes tearing up their streets, so they’ve launched creative protests to get attention from their government officials.
Artist Baadal Nanjundaswamy championed one such protest, transforming a water-filled pothole into a mermaid lagoon in Bengaluru, India.
According to the News Minute, Nanjundaswamy recruited actress Sonu Gowda to pose as a mermaid at the lagoon. Photos shared on Twitter show Gowda splashing in the water, dressed in a mermaid costume. The water in the lagoon was dyed blue.
According to News 18, Bengaluru is peppered with more than 16,000 potholes. The News Minute reports the potholes have lead to five traffic-related deaths.
