This woman isn’t your average makeup artist.

Shalom Nchom, better know as Shalom Black on YouTube, is a 20-year-old beauty blogger originally from Nigeria.

According to BuzzFeed, when she was just 9-years-old, she had an accident with frying oil at her family’s store.

Now, her face and chest are covered with scars. She said her life changed after the accident.

“I was stared at by kids and older people whenever I stepped out. I felt like a living statue that people came to see. It pushed me to be rude towards anyone who stared at me. I cursed people out and cried on many occasions,” she told BuzzFeed.

Now, she’s a talented makeup artists. She hopes on empower other people, and teach them about the power of makeup.

A new video shows her doing makeup on half her face to show just how dramatic the difference is.

“You should love yourself either way, makeup or no makeup,” she says in the video. “Makeup is not the reason I’m happy. I’m happy because I love myself.”

Her Instagram page has more than 43,000 followers. She inspires people with burn scars and acne scars to rediscover their self confidence everyday.
