A bride’s hilarious first look prank she pulled on her groom is getting a lot of attention around the country.
Erin Goldberg, 25, tied the knot with Ean Goldberg, 31, in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Nov. 11, ABC News reports.
Many brides now stage a “first look” with their groom. During the first look, the bride and groom get a chance to see each other before the wedding ceremony, so the wedding photographer can capture the sentimental moment on camera.
According to a Facebook post shared by photographer Molly McElenney, Erin reached out to her weeks ago asking to stage a “fake” first look with Ean. She wanted to prank him by wearing a ratty t-shirt and sweatpants during their first look.
“Ean thought he was going to see his bride in her stunning gown, only to turn around and see this glorious outfit,” wrote McElenney.
Ean told ABC News he was not expecting the prank.
“I was smiling and facing the other way and was antsy, just so excited to turn around and see her,” Ean said. “And when I turned around, the first thing I said that went through my mind was, basically, ‘I should’ve expected that.’”
Photos of the funny moment were shared by the Love What Matters Facebook page. Commenters shared their own stories about jokes between between brides and grooms on their wedding days, which made the special day all the more special.
“This reminds me of my aunt and uncle- she had a really ratty old red fleece bathrobe, and oh boy did he hate that thing!” wrote Tara Exline. “As a surprise, she had her garter made from the bathrobe sash… imagine his surprise when he came out with THAT at the reception! These are the special moments that will smooth the bumps and turn the frowns into smiles later on in life!”
