PHILADELPHIA – A kitten slated to be euthanized now has a second chance, thanks to a determined team of veterinarians.

Braille the kitten was found abandoned in Philadelphia in June. According to the Facebook page, Braille the Blind Kitten, she was five weeks old and weighed just 0.7 pounds.

She was brought the the Animal Care and Control Team of Philadelphia with an upper respiratory infection. The infection was so bad that it spread to her eyes.

A worker at the shelter saved her from euthanasia.

Veterinarians had to remove both her eyes, so she is now completely blind.

She is being cared for by Sara and Erin, who say she is making an amazing recovery. They say she recently started purring and is growing into a curious, playful kitten.

Her owners started a GoFundMe page to raise money for medical costs. They also say some of the proceeds will go to ACCT Philadelphia, to thank them for saving Braille.
