LOS ANGELES – A military dog was awarded a Purple Heart after getting injured in Afghanistan.
Rocky and his handler Spc. Andrew Brown have an incredible bond. The two of them were injured when a bomb exploded in Afghanistan. Both were injured and treated at a nearby military hospital.
As they recovered, Brown and Rocky were awarded Purple Hearts. A photo posted to Facebook has been shared over 140,000 times.
Brown, a father of two and a husband, told ABC News Rocky is as much a solider as he is. In fact, Rocky is one rank above Brown.
“He does everything,” Brown said. “I’m really just a guy with a leash. I bring him to the area and let him do his thing.”
Brown is holding on to his partner’s Purple Heart for now. Rocky is preparing to undergo more surgeries in Germany.
Brown is sure Rocky is in good spirits, as he is throughout his recovery process.
